He was born in Akita Prefecture in 1960. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Design, Tokyo Zokei University in 1983. In the 80s, he mainly illustrated corporate advertising. Beginning in the early '90s, he drew illustrations for novels under the influence of late 19 century art and Ukiyoe. On the other hand, he created an original work called 'Heisei aesthetics' which is illusory. Since then, he has continued his ambitious activities such as publishing a collection of paintings, producing cover paintings and illustrations, and holding solo exhibitions. He is currently a member of the International Ukiyoe Society.
１９６０年秋田県に生まれる。１９８３年東京造形大学造形学部美術学科卒業。８０年代は主に企業広告のイラストレーションを手がける。９０年代初頭から、１９世紀末美術や浮世絵の影響のもとに、小説の挿絵を描き出す。その傍ら「平成耽美主義」と銘打って、幻想耽美なオリジナル作品を制作。以降、画集発刊のほか、表紙絵・挿絵の制作、個展の開催など、意欲的な活動をつづける。現在、国際浮世絵学会会員。
